Should I stay with my wife, if we can't get past this hurdle?

I agree with the first two people who suggested counseling, BUT, I would recommend joint financial counseling, not marriage counseling. I think it would do your wife good to hear the objective opinion of an expert about savings, expenditures, and all things financial, including being able to support children.
