Trying to finance vehicle from mother name into my name?

Ok, Im asking this for my bf. His mom financed his truck through her job's credit union in 2008 for 8500. Now she wants the truck out of her name, so he's been trying to find a way to finance it. He has a collection on his credit on something they signed off on together for $2300. He went to another credit union to try to get financing and they told him to pay the 2300 off then come back. The truck still has 3400 owed on it. And when he tries to get a loan this collection keeps popping up. I suggested he go to the credit union which his mother is with and try to see if they would be more leniant since the vehicle is already with them and his mother has worse credit(525) than him and was able to finance it. The credit union said something about using the equity in the vehicle. I'm unsure how this works so I'm trying to figure out for him, so he can get the truck in his name and make payments directly to them which would help his credit. Any info. We live in Georgia, the debt from the collection agency is from 2009 I believe.

Army APFT taking it too often, what should I do?

FM's are guidelines, not black and white inked in rules. Your Commander can implement an overweight or PT Failure special needs program as they see fit. I was in a unit that you did special needs PT after duty hours and on Saturday if you had anyone that was over tape or a PT Failure. For over three years I did PT Ten times a week, organized PT in the morning, special needs at night and once on Saturday as I always had at least one of either category. That be the breaks. Go complain all you want and wave that FM around because your jousting at windmills. Just stay with the program and get off the overweight and keep yourself off of it and in your case I think staying off of it would be a heck of an incentive as opposed to the program they have in place.

Why doesn't brokerage firm restrict my account?

I received a regulation T or Fed call on my account from Scottrade twice in the last 2 weeks. I held too much equity overnight each time and it resulted in Fed Calls. I was told that I must deposit money and cannot sell stock to cover the call or I will get a 90 day restriction on account. I sold stock since I had no other choice. I had a discount broker a few years ago that restricted my account the 90 days after the first time. I realize they probably want the account to not be restricted so I can trade and they make commissions. My account at Scottrade still has no restriction. How am I getting away from this 90 day restriction when I was told my account at Scottrade will be restricted for 90 days?

Is there ANYTHING I can do to help my farmers tan?

The weird tan I'm getting from being in the sun during sports, with my shin guards an my long-ish shorts is making my knees super tan and the rest of my leg not so much. Also, my jersey has sleeves that go down pretty far, so the top part of my arms is pale, where by the lower part is very tan. I tried to fix everything today by going outside covering up my knees while I tanned a little (I know it's bad for you, but I was just trying to fix the weird tan line.) I ended up not covering everything right and not I have two pale stripes on my legs. One a bit above my knees and the other a bit below them. It's kind of funny actually, but obviously not good. Why does it seem like no guys like me?

Well I am almost fifteen, and am about to finish my freshman year of high school. Dylan, U$2,500 seems a little steep for hotel + flight. Air travel to Brazil is quite expensive, however the hotels in our “nordeste” you can def. get a good deal. Fortaleza is awesome, but depending on the purpose of your trip I recommend some of the neighboring beaches like Cumbuco or Jericoacoara (which is one of the most beautiful beaches in Brazil!). There you can get hotels for like R$120 a night, which in today’s rate exchange is like U$75 a night. For two weeks that would be U$525 per person. These good deal hotels normally wont have a kitchen, they are simpler and called “pousadas”, look for this name when searching. They do include breakfast however, but I recommend looking for the local food restaurants with “picanha” or “feijoada” which are excellent (and cheap) local meals. Has anyone ever stayed at Sea Colony in Bethany Beach, Delaware?

For our vacation this year, my family would like to try somewhere new. We're used to going to Ocean City, Maryland and for the past 2 years have gone to Ocean City, New Jersey because our daughter was working there. We'd like to try Bethany Beach since it seems much more laid back than OCMD, but yet close enoigh that we can "daytrip" down there if we want to. We want to rent a condo. We'd like to be able to drive as little as possible. I know Sea Colony has a shuttle that takes you around their property but does it also take you to the boardwalk or into "town"? (we'll stay at the tennis resort if we stay here, the ocean resorts are WAY to expensive) Is it a long walk if we want to walk to the boardwalk? Alright so my family is pretty close. I live under my grandmothers name in her house with my grandparents , aunt and great aunt. Now my grandmother had 10 kids whose all lived in this house and even some other cousins of my other great aunts have been raised by my grandmother. Now its a new generation and here I am. I live in a very ghetto and urban part of NJ and its terrible just plain-face terrible. Anyway, My family had this house for about 30 years a while after being forced out of our home in a better town due to construction and there's shootings every other week at the corner , the school systems are terrible and I am just sooo fed up with everything. Gramps was thinking of moving to Burlington , NJ where my Uncle Marc lives which is awesome and believe it or not I too have been looking for homes and i found one that is right next too a great high school and its just a dream! A dream from watching television and movies that include high school cheer-leading teams and regular lifestyles. It just forces you to think while in this situation. Bernoulli's and Latane's use of the logarithmic utility of wealth also favors a 50/50 risk to no risk division but more importantly demonstrates that a 100% risk position guarantees eventual total loss. The risk free portion is what allows your portfolio to take advantage of a market downturn simply by rebalancing. Without a risk free portion, you are subject to correlated risks which is always higher than expected particularly in difficult economic times.

Is it possible to refinance to an amortized home loan which we can pay off in 5 years?

Have approximately $125,000 left in principal balance with our current mortgage with a 4.875% rate. If continue with my current mortgage, it will be paid off by 2017. Would like to get a lower rate to pay down and pay off the principle balance in the same monthly payment. But not the kind that will leave me with still over $100k in principal balance by the end of Year 5, such as a 5/1 ARM. This next week I'm auditioning for two equity off broadway musicals in New York. I'm not an equity actor or part of any union. From my simple understanding I know that I will only be seen if time allows and they want to see non-equity. The audition info says auditions are from 10AM - 6PM but I read somehwere that you should show up at 5AM to sign up for an audition. How can I get my pell grant back after being denied?!?

I just got my fin aid letter from my school (I am a senior), and it shows that I am not getting a pell grant, which means I will also not get my smart grant! I also lost the Rober Byrd Scholarship as the funding was cut. My brother graduated college, and it looks like my parents earned a little more money last year, and I'm guessing that's the reason, but I haven't been notified why by the fed govt. Both of my parents work (my mom's is stable, my dad's is on and off), and both work at second part time jobs. The only reason I was able to attend there is because I got scholarships, grants, and loans which barely cover my costs. I have been so grateful for that! My parents are paying their way out of a bankruptcy, and will be done with that in January. They have no equity at all in our home, and are underwater on the mortgage. My mom (age 73) married a man (73) she only had courted a few weeks. We are retired living in one unit of our 3 family. Should we buy a home at this time? We qualify for $275K?

Have any of you had this experience with Priceline?

Priceline- You know, William Shatner. I booked a reservation through them and stayed at the Ramada early in April. When I made the reservations, I paid for them in advance through Priceline. Long story short, the hotel never received confirmation of my payment through Priceline and charged me again, about a week after my stay. I called Ramada, where I stayed, and told them that the charge is incorrect, they refunded the money immediately. However, their system is automated and still did not have confirmation of payment through Priceline so it continued to charge and they would manually refund (this happened three times). I called Priceline to have this corrected but, wouldn't you know it? All their "representatives" are in India. Long story short, it is now six weeks after my stay and I can't get Priceline to get this right yet, I'm still out the money. They haven't even offered a complimentary stay or discount (I have directly asked for it considering this whole debacle but, it's not Priceline's policy to do such things. UNBELIEVABLE!). Their attempt at apology is sorry to say the least, their customer service is inept once things go wrong, and getting things straight has been a nightmare. Just thought I'd let you all know what Priceline's potential is when you're making decisions this summer. Best of luck.

How to account for sale of a stock.?

I do realise if you were to account for a sale of a stock, you would debit cash and credit common stock; however, this only explains the question from a corporate perspective. My question is that if I were to sell my stocks that I own, how would I account for that? I'm somewhat perplexed at this question.I do know common stock in on the owners equity section of the balance sheet and cash is on the assets section of the balance sheet; but I wouldn't be able to debit owners equity as decreases in owners equity are debits, as it violates the elementary rules of financial accounting. Not that I need to know this for a test, I've just been thinking about it all day.

Well actually if you stay at the deluxe resort on the club level they have an area that is always stocked with food that is included in the price of your room. Its reserved for club level guest only. In the mornings they always stock it with pasteries, cereal, juice and fruits and throughout the day they change it out to various little nibbles. In the evening it changes to appitizers , cheese and wine. Its really quite lovely. This is not for everyone in the Deluxe room. YOu specifically have to have a room on the club/ concierge floor. This floor you will be paying extra above and beyond a standard room at the Deluxe resort. If you can afford it then I would definitly do it.

My PhD advisor is making my life hell.?

I'm currently doing my doctoral studies at one of the top engineering schools in the US. My advisor is a US citizen of Indian origin. His lab has over 80% Indian students and and the rest are Chinese including myself and some part-time American students. Everything was fine and under control until a year ago when my advisor started a software company and recruited people in our lab. He only asked foreign students like myself and said he could not pay us because we were not allowed to work for more than 20 hours per week on a student visa. He said he would pay us later and that this would be a great opportunity... might extend to a full-time job offer with sponsorship for a US visa. He went on to say that even if we say "No", we'd still have to help with research stuff in support of this commercial effort. And he said that if we don't join this effort, then we'd have to find a different thesis topic. I was already three years into my doctoral studies. I got scared and I was in majority... forced to join this commercial effort. Then, all sorts of problems started to emerge. He made our thesis work the lowest priority. He filled our schedules with this company work. He made us come to school every weekend. We wanted to submit papers to journals and conferences, but he left no time for us to do anything academic. Last one year was pure hell. We had to put in between 60 to 80 hours every week with no vacation time. He said regularly that he could not promise anything in writing because technically we were not supposed to work beyond 20 hours. Slowly, I became worried. I was moving further and further away from academic work. No publications. Nothing. Besides, with no promise of anything in writing, I had to completely rely on what he was saying... that he would pay us later. The problem is that he himself does not do much work. He only comes to some meetings and he'll either fall asleep or he only wants to hear that things are running fine and clients are satisfied. He's taking all the money right now. Recently he told each of us how much money we would be getting "later". I was literally shocked by this. He is giving each of us a small fraction of the company equity (less than 1%), and he plans to pay us less than half the average salary a fresh/new PhD graduate would get in our field, in industry. Some of us raised doubts and spoke to him only to learn that he is expecting us to join his company no matter what. He's reminded us that in case we decide to leave him, we would need to pick a different thesis topic not related to the research supporting this commercial product. All of us are four to five years into our doctoral studies. We are left with no choice. We are foreign students and we don't know where to go ask for help. This whole department and engineering college are full of Indian professors and they all know each other. I don't know what to do. One friend has decided to drop out of PhD program and just leave. I don't think I can do that... I don't want my four years of effort in graduate school to go into a waste bin. My parents will be devastated.
